Günther Falusy

Günther Falusy was born in Vienna and began his training with the Vienna State Theatre School of Ballet. In 1961 he joined the company and later in 1966, was promoted to soloist. He danced in all the great classics from Sleeping Beauty to Giselle, Coppelia to Swan Lake. He has danced the principal roles in ballets from well known choreographers such as Nureyev, Massine, Balanchine, Orlikowsky, Lander, Gsovsky, Tudor, Parlic, Walter, Cranko, Wright and Ashton. He also danced in all the modern pieces in the company's repertoire, all of which he has toured with the Vienna State Ballet throughout Europe and America. His film and television career began with Rudolf Nureyev’s Swan Lake, followed by Geschopfe des Prometheus by Milos. Günther appeared every year in the Eurovision Broadcast of the Vienna Philharmonic's New Year's Concert.

In 1976 he joined the Bavarian State Ballet extending his already substantial repertoire. In 1979 he choreographed for the first time for the Interlakner Festival Weeks and subsequently for the Salzburger Festival Performances and for the opening of the Munich Festival Ball. In 1986 he left the Bavarian State Ballet to found Wiener Ballett Theater and to concentrate on choreography. Since then he has choreographed, not only over 30 highly successful ballets but also for Television, Fashion Shows, Opera and Operettas.
